WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
Modern Foreign Languages Academic Programs
The Modern Foreign Languages department offers several degree programs, Second Academic Concentrations, and minors in German and Spanish, as well as a number of courses in other languages, including Cherokee, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, and French.
Our students often choose to spend a semester abroad, studying at one of several partner institutions throughout the world. If you choose to spend a semester abroad, Western’s study abroad and international exchange programs will truly open the world to you, offering a unique opportunity to supplement your education.
Several of our courses also satisfy the World Cultures category of the university’s Liberal Studies Program. Western students are encouraged to take a broad range of courses to fulfill Liberal Studies requirements, and our courses offer a perspective unique to our department. Check out these and other course offerings by browsing the University Catalog.
