The National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is a pre-professional membership association for students interested in the study of communication sciences and disorders. NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by our field's national organization, ASHA (American Speech Language Hearing Association).

WCU's NSSLHA chapter is comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students. Its mission is to assist students with pre-professional development including providing support for students to attend conferences and participation in the planning and implementation of the annual Cullowhee Conference on Communication Disorders. Students are encouraged to join the national chapter of NSSLHA as well as the WCU chapter. You can read more about the national organization and download a membership application at their website.

WCU's NSSLHA members are active with our profession's state and national conference presentations, and are visible program ambassadors on our campus. Student activities include social events, fund raisers, community service, and regular meetings designed to facilitate student support of one another as well as the Speech and Hearing Center, and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
