Biography:
Dr. Bell earned his doctorate in philosophy with a specialization in victimology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Before his arrival at Western Carolina University, Dr. Bell taught crime prevention, law enforcement, corrections, business & industrial security, juvenile delinquency, victimology, research methods, and several introductory level courses focusing on courts, corrections, and law enforcement at two universities.
His dissertation “Intimate Partner Abuse on Campus: A Test of Social Learning Theory” explores the problem of physical and psychological abuse among college-aged individuals. His current research interests are in the areas of domestic and intimate partner abuse, statistical survey design, and neutralization and social learning theories.
